About Us
Welcome to Philipstown Labrador Retrievers, a kennel situated in the north east corner of County Offaly in the heart of Ireland.We are well established, having started showing in the 1970’s.
We live on a farm, with a flowing river and where there is plenty of forestry and cover. Although we are primarily a show kennel, our dogs retrieve both fur and feather from all types of cover and water.

Since our early 20’s we have enjoyed showing these beautiful and intelligent dogs. It started with a family pet. Through reading and research, we became hooked on showing. Most weekends saw us with our 2 young children and dogs heading North, South, East or West to a show. This we still do but minus the children, although we starting on the Grand Children!

Over the years we have developed our own type of dog within the breed standard.This has been very kind to us, giving us the pleasure of making up almost 30 champions including some English and European.
Our Dogs
Our first Labrador was bought when our son Eoghan was just two year old. She was not a show dog but lived with us for nearly 14 years. We were very fortunate to get a Sandylands bitch some 2 years later. She was Sandylands Good Tidings( Sandylands General X ShCh Sandylands Katrinka of Keithray) Cindy was not a show dog but her breeding was impeccable.
Gwen gave us such support and advice and of course a wonderful friendship developed with her.All our stock to this day goes straight back on the bitch line to Sandylands Good Tidings,this is a marvel that we guard carefully.

Health Checks
All our stock has all the necessary health certification.
Hips and Elbows are scored under the BVA schemes.
Eye checks are done annually.
